Welcome to Lucy's Pasture Donkey Sanctuary

We started with one donkey, Lucy, who needed a home.  The woman who had her loved her but was not able to care for her and could no longer afford to feed her.  My wife Mary and I payed the woman what she had bought the donkey for and assured her that Lucy would be cared for and given a good home.  Lucy soon taught us that donkeys are very affectionate and have a sense of humor.  Friends of ours from Jackass Junction in Deming, New Mexico informed us that there were a lot of donkeys out there that needed a home.  We acquired our next two donkeys at a Bureau of Land Management auction.  Before we knew it, people who could no longer take care of their donkeys due to illness or other hardships were asking if we could take in their donkeys.  These people loved their donkeys but surrendered them to us knowing they would be provided the best of care and given a good home.  Mary and I have become known as "The people who take in animals."  We have since become home to a pig, six ducks, one goose, nine goats, ten miniture horses, one miniture mule and three horses.  At last count, there are twelve donkeys.  Mary and I, along with our daughter Candice have provided shelter, veterinarian, ferrier care and do all the work neccesary to care for these animals.  We do not think of it as work, it is what we love to do and it is a joy to watch these animals and see them happy and healthy.  We have found good homes for some of the animals we have acquired.  However, we can not continue to do it alone any longer.  We need help from caring people.  Please enjoy our website and if you get a chance, please bring your children and come to Lucy's Pasture to visit with the animals.  Thank you.  Your support is very needed.

LUCY'S PASTURE T-SHIRTS ARE AVAILABLE FOR A DONATION OF $20.00 (INCLUDES SHIPPING)

Lucy's Pasture is a non-profit organization.  Without the support of the public we could not continue to help these animals who desperately need care and attention.  All money over the cost of the t-shirts helps buy grass hay, sweet feed, pay veterinarian bills pay for a ferrier to trim hoofs and other costs associated with the care of these animals.  Your generosity is greatly appreciated and will help us take care of more animals who are in need.  Thank you.
